Special-purpose automatic machines
Do you need to automate a process or develop a special-purpose machine? Describe your product, operations and required output. LF Drawings can start with a feasibility study and 3D mechanical design or manage a turnkey development project, with activities and responsibilities defined in the quotation.
Automation developed around your production process
LF Drawings designs and develops special-purpose automatic machines for companies in Italy and across Europe. The starting point is your production process: what the machine must do, how it will interact with the product and the operator, and which technical constraints must be met.
A turnkey project can bring together mechanical design, manufacturing, assembly and agreed verification stages. The activities included, responsibilities and delivery conditions are defined for each assignment.
A real project: automation for metal handle powder coating
Design and construction of the automation and metal handle handling systems, integrated with the powder coating system supplied by ZEUS. A practical example of developing special-purpose automatic machines for an industrial production process.

A real project: motorcycle chain press
Design and construction of a dedicated motorcycle chain press. Another example of the special-purpose machines developed by LF Drawings for specific production requirements.

From requirements to a mechanical solution
Before developing a machine, we examine the operation to automate, the available space, product characteristics, interfaces with existing equipment and expected output. Understanding these details helps identify a suitable layout and assess the main engineering challenges.
The mechanical concept is then developed in 3D, with particular attention to component interfaces, movements, clearances and assembly. For a focused design assignment, see our 3D mechanical design with SolidWorks service.
Project stages
1. Define the brief
We agree objectives, operating conditions, constraints and expected deliverables. Existing drawings, product samples and process information help establish a clear starting point.
2. Develop the concept and detailed design
The project progresses from a functional layout to components, assemblies and manufacturing drawings. Design reviews allow the team to examine key decisions before committing to production.
3. Build, assemble and verify
Manufacturing, purchased components, assembly and checks are coordinated according to the agreed scope. If a specific mechanism needs physical validation first, rapid prototyping can help assess the proposed solution.
Industrial experience
Our experience covers different industrial applications, including packaging, chemicals, ceramics and automotive. A machine is developed for the actual process and operating environment. Product handling, maintenance access and ease of use are considered as part of the mechanical design.
What to include in your enquiry
Describe the operation you want to automate, the product or component involved, expected production rate, available space, existing equipment and desired timescale. Images, sketches or technical documentation can help us assess the project. We will then define the next steps and the information needed to develop a proposal.
Frequently asked questions
Can you develop a machine for an existing production line?
Yes. Interfaces and operating constraints need to be assessed before defining the solution and the scope of integration.
Does every assignment include a complete machine?
No. An assignment can focus on mechanical design or extend to an agreed turnkey solution. The scope is defined at the outset.
